The DU or the University of Delhi is drafting a new curriculum for various undergraduate courses, which will take another 3-4 months to be completed. The new curriculum was approved by the Executive Council of DU on 11th February 2022, under the Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF). The new batch of students that will be admitted to the university through the Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) will be studying the revised course from the academic year 2022-23 .
In addition to it the university has also announced that there will be no Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) for admissions into postgraduate (PG) and doctorate (PhD) courses. CUCET will only be applicable to undergraduate (UG) admissions and all PG/PhD-level students will have to seek admission through the Delhi University Entrance Test (DUET).
DU: New Undergraduate (UG) Curriculum – Details
The new UG curriculum is being drafted as per the recommendations made by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The curriculum includes two features of the NEP. The first is the multidisciplinary approach towards education and the second one is multiple entry and exit schemes (MEES). Under MEES, students can exit at the end of an academic year with a degree. However, students still need to earn a total of 176 credits at the end of the fourth year of their undergraduate degree. They also need to earn a minimum of 50 per cent credits in a discipline to get the degree with a major in that particular discipline.
DU: No CUCET but DUET for PG/PhD Admissions
DU has issued an official notification that states that the admission process for PG and PhD courses will be carried out through the Delhi University Entrance Test (DUET) 2022 exam. CUCET will only be used to conduct admissions for UG courses at the university.
In the notification it is stated that “It is notified that the admissions to Post Graduate and Ph.D. programmes for the Academic Session 2022-2023 of the University of Delhi shall be on the basis of Delhi University Entrance Test (DUET) as per past practice. Further details related to admissions shall be released soon.”
